Possibly No Mid-Season Break & Air Date Speculations
So EW has been reporting some interesting news. According to EW:
"You could theoretically broadcast it in two pieces because they are almost standalone sections, but right now the intention is probably to show them straight through," Moore said, according to Zap2It.

This would mean we could watch all 13 episodes one week after another (barring any scheduling conflicts) but that we might have to wait up to 10 months for another season. But look at it this way. We've waited 6 months between Season 1A and Season 1B and if speculations are right and we won't be getting Season 2 until April that is another 10 months. If you are keeping track that means Outlander fans would be waiting 16months instead of 10-12. So the question is which do you prefer:
Poll #2019322 How Long Do You Want To Wait?

Would you rather:

Have 2 half seasons, with waiting periods between and after
3(23.1%)
Have 1 full season, with a waiting period of up to 10 or 12 months after
10(76.9%)

Now onto the speculations about the airdate. Many have wondered if shooting is not going to be finished until February, if this means we will not see an airdate for Season Two until April. EW poses the query of airdates with some data from Carter Matt... let's go to the source:
To understand the premiere date for “Outlander,” you have to look first at the series that precedes it in “Black Sails.” The pirate drama has premiered the first two seasons of January 25 and January 24, so it is fair to guess that the season 3 premiere date will either be January 23, or they will go back later to January 30. It’s possible in theory they could try to move it up a week or two to January 16 or January 9, and we’ll go as far as to explain why this could be useful next.

Here’s where things get interesting: While season 1 of “Outlander” was 16 episodes, it was split into two separate halves. There was therefore not a time when it took up a long stretch of the Starz schedule. “Outlander” season 2, meanwhile, is 13 episodes, and our feeling is that they will air all in one batch. If you want to ensure that the premiere of “Power” season 3 does not get significantly delayed versus season 2, it may behoove Starz to put “Black Sails” earlier in January, and then air “Outlander” a little earlier, as well. If “Black Sails” premieres on January 9, the earliest “Outlander” could premiere is March 19. If “Black Sails” starts on January 23, the earliest is April 2.

All speculation, of course, but something interesting to contemplate. I never really thought about how the networks pick when a show will air but this makes a lot of sense.

Once upon a time, watching your TV show one episode a week for 12-15 weeks, then waiting a whole year for the next season, was the only way to see it. Although I enjoy the immediacy of online access, we have become a society fixated on instant gratifcation, and the networks/studios/writers are playing on that to drive up interest and demand for their creations.

Whichever way they decide to go, there'll be waiting involved, so no need to get all worked up about it. I just wish they'd make up their minds, stick to one or the other of the two options, and allow us to set our minds to the outcome. It's the hodge podge mucking around that annoys me more than the waiting.

Plus, I console myself with the knowledge that all my other shows are back in October, so they'll help with the distraction, and April isn't really much longer after that.

So true. I think everyone is wonder what the fans would prefer and I think breaking a season up is just too hard. It makes people inclined to forget to watch the rest and some might not even remember what is happening.

Yes, they're never going to please everyone with all this 'ask the fans'. The die-hards will watch whatever they do. But like I mentioned above, it's the indecision that's annoying me. If we have to wait a year, it's not ideal, obviously, but we'd know where we stand. Personally if we're going to have a year's wait then I'd want to get the whole season in consecutive weeks for the thirteen weeks, and get all the waiting over and done with in one hit. The way they did season one was ridiculous! No one had any idea what the hell was happening.

Nope but I think the idea is to get a clue as to what the fans are thinking and then consider it. So it is nice they asked.

Yeah, I think the majority of the people want to see it all together and then wait. Makes sense to me.

There will be waiting either way, but in that case I'd prefer to get the whole season. That way you can have a rewatch or two during the wait for next season.

Exactly. I just want to see the whole thing. I mean if they skip a week and then bring it back with a shocking twist... I'm okay but don't make us wait twice. It is just too much and then I'm always confused which season we are in.

Completely agree. I can handle a two week wait once of twice, but I'd like to get the season as a whole.
