(Almost) no Emmy love for Outlander
The Emmy nominations were announced today, and Outlander was overlooked for all acting awards. It did pick up one for costume design and another for set production, but that's it. I'm honestly not surprised at all -- it seems to take Emmy voters about 4-5 years to realize a show 1) exists and 2) deserves acting nominations. For example, the Americans finally got nominated for best drama, best actor and actress. Of course Mr. Robot also got nominated for best drama and lead actor, and it's only been around 1 year, so there goes my theory.

But yeah, nothing for Cait or Sam or Tobias. Or the show as a whole.

I'm choosing to take it as a positive thing; they noticed the craftsmanship that went into the production of the show.

Now, I really want them to recognize the cast for the amazing work they do to portray the story, and for the ENTIRE team to get recognized, too. Because, OMG. I do think that this is where the "hard to peg" thing that I ADORE about Outlander makes it less attractive to award nominators; they don't know which category to put it in. For god's sake, you could put it in ALL of them, and I just don't think, with the plethora of easy to peg programs out there right now, that they can be bothered to even try figuring out which is the most appropriate.

Which is, to be blunt, a fucking shame. Because these guys acted their guts out for the last two seasons and deserve all the official industry awards.

But YAY for JGS and TB and their teams! They made it look just amazing and I'm so happy they got an official nod!

Totally agree. Canadian TV critic John Doyle had written about Outlander and the Emmys a few weeks back and basically made the same points (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/arts/television/john-doyle-the-emmy-awards-and-the-outlander-problem/article30639014/)

BTW -- really love your artwork!

I think there's a lot of us on the same page :D Hopefully the Emmys get their heads on straight soon!

(and thank you, I'm so glad you like it! <3)

It's a pity, but I'm not surprised that the actors didn't get any recognition. Hopefully the emmy voters will open their eyes to that side of the show in the future.

I'm glad that Oulander at least got nominations for costume design and set production. It truly deserves those, but as for the lack of other noms? I just keep scratching my head. It doesn't make sense.

It is so frustrating that Outlander isn't getting nominated. I mean Cait's performance in Faith alone deserves all the Emmy's. I mean I've hear the reasoning behind the Emmy snubs and it does make sense that for the most part they have trouble catching up with what is in the now though how they nominated Mr. Robot I'll never know. I hated that show so much. I thought it was extremely boring.

I'm so annoyed with the Emmys. I'm looking forward to The People's choice this year.
