I realize Ron and crew will always change bits of the story and sequence to make better TV and that's OK with me. They have done a splendid job so far and I'm sure will continue to do so.

Besides, we will always have the books. :)

Very true.

The books will always be better to me, but as an adaptation I think they're doing the best they can.

I'm actually finding that the first series of Outlander is far superior to the book. I recently re-read the book in fits and starts while at the gym (it's easier to read a book I'm familiar with while on the elliptical trainer) and I was struck by how odd book Claire is in that one. I mean, she comes across as almost being somewhat autistic or something. TV Claire is so much better -- at least her reactions are ones any normal person would have. And I like that they seem to be trying to "humanize" Jamie somewhat. In the books, he's a bloody unicorn -- a fantasy creature. The more I read, the more Jamie sort of annoys because no real person is that perfect. I've read loads of comments on Twitter and elsewhere from fans complaining that Jamie's being emasculated or some such BS in the TV adaptation, but I disagree -- I think they're just making him more believable. I prefer my heroes to have a few warts, which is why I totally love Darryl on The Walking Dead -- such an amazing growth arc with that character.
