And the role goes to....

Sophie Skelton.

She looks like a combination of TV Claire and Jamie.

I googled her when I first saw the news break on Twitter. She's not a natural redhead, and she's not that tall -- 5'8". Hair colour isn't a big deal, as the photo shows, but the books always stressed Brianna's height, how she towered over a lot of men.

But then again, it would be impossible to find someone who matched the book description to a "T" and could also act!

Really looking forward to April!

I looked at a couple of scientific articles which agree the average height of men in Western Europe in the 17th through 19th centuries is roughly 65.75 inches (167 cm or 5 feet 4 inches). So she is not too short. Everyone else is too tall!

You mention the actress's height, and I wonder if it'll be her presence that allows her to deliver a believable "Brianna". I haven't given any thought to who could play the role, but I'm optimistic Sophie will do a great job. The casting is bang on so far :)

I'm sure she'll be wonderful. As you said, they've been so spot-on with the casting thus far. I mean, TV Claire is taller than book Claire, but does anyone notice that? And in the books, Angus was massive -- but he's wee on TV -- but again, does it matter?

Gosh I don't know what I would do if I was that tall haha! I am not even 5 feet 😩 haha. Bree is not only big physically, but she's got a big personality. I think if Sophie can pull off that personality than the physical traits she may be "lacking" in playing Bree probably won't be an issue. We love Cait as Claire, Sam as Jamie, Duncan as Murtagh etc. None are an exact match to the characters from the book but all have managed to win us over by their amazing portrayals of these characters. They embody them. I am thinking Sophie and Rik are going to do the same.
