James Robinson will be part of Outlander!
So do any of the fans remember the speculation about who would play Roger Wakefield? I do. Mostly I remember Outlander TV New's top pick for the casting of Roger. (check them out HERE) One of those picks was James Robinson who's IMDB profile says this:

James Robinson is a Scottish actor. He was born in the Glasgow, Scotland, to a florist and a firefighter. James has one sister, who is a nurse.

James had his first success on screen when he was 10-years-old. He garnered much acclaim for his performance as the young William Wallace in Mel Gibson's 5 Oscar® winning blockbuster, Braveheart (1995). Briefly withdrawing from the business as a child, he returned as an adult with favorable roles that further developed his talents.

After high school, Robinson studied a degree in Acting at the highly esteemed Rose Bruford College in London.

Etc and so on. But here is the thing. If you check out his casting credits we see this:

Book fans know who Greg Edgars is and don't really need and explanation though TV fans would. However, I'm not going to spoil the surprise so I'll just say Greg is the husband to Gillian Edgars. They met when both were members of the Scottish Nationalists. Greg and Gillian aren't essential to the story though they do shed some light on the character of Roger's own story.

Hmm...I've read the books, but I don't remember this character at all.

He's not in it for long...he's Geillis' husband in the 1960's...

Thanks. Having now seen the final episode, I know who he is. I had forgotten that Geillis used him as a sacrifice.

"Greg and Gillian aren't essential to the story"

Er... Gillian kinda is totally essential to the overall story. Not *specifically* DIA, but important part of of Outlander and Voyager...

I don't think the whole Gillian Edgars story is not specifically important. I really think they could strike most of it from the story and just....

[Spoiler (click to open)]Have Claire look for Geillis and try to stop her. We don't need the whole thing. We don't even need her to be Gillian... though I do remember it being more of a mystery that way.

I've always hated the whole adventure they had trying to find Geillis when they already assumed it was the Sun and Fire feasts that opened the stones. They knew the closest one so they didn't need all that digging to try to find Geillis. I think the show could cut out all of that nonsense and just have Claire going to the stones on a Solstice or whatever they are and try to stop Geillis.

And technically they don't even have to have this part with Gillian to tell Roger's story. He can just be the product of a time traveler's line and that would be enough.

But it's witnessing Gillian/Geillis go through the stones that convinces Bree that Claire is telling the truth.

So I'm totally satisfied with the way they did it in episode 213. And I actually think my point was what they did instead of everything I said. I mean I was wrong and I have eaten my words but they toned down the whole looking into Gillian anyways which is what I ultimately wanted.

I mean I even think Bree and Roger encountering Gillian and then Claire seeing the flier would have been enough and we didn't need Claire to go see Greg, though I supposed we should know going in she's a double husband murderer. Either way I'm very happy she didn't drag Roger or Bree around to find out more on Gillian.

I always felt in the books that Claire was dragging Roger around and she knew more than what she was letting on.

It took me a moment, but then it dawned on me.
He looks more attractive than I imagined the character.

I think so too. I always expected him to have money or something because if we know anything about Geillis, it is that she wants position and power and for the 60s I think she'd want something to use for her own ends.
