What We Know About Season 3 As Told By Ron More
Outlander showrunner Ron Moore has been dropping hints on Twitter and in interviews about what is happening with Season Three which will be adapted from the book Voyager. Some of these you might know and some you might not. Spoilers will be well marked.

  1. Filming of Season 3 will start in Late August or Early September.

  2. Filming will continue in Scotland for at least Season 3.

  3. No new characters have been cast for S3.

  4. Part of S3 won't take place in Scotland.

  5. Right now they are planning 13 episodes for S3 & S4 but that is subject to change.

  6. Jamie and Claire will brave a ship again.

  7. According to Ron Moore, the book Voyager is already proving easier to adapt than Dragonfly in Amber which S2 was adapted from.

  8. Next Season there will be some new writers: Luke Schelhass, Karen Campbell, Joy Blake & Shannon Goss.

[Spoiler (click to open)]SPOILERS

  1. The most challenging part of filming Season 3 will be the stuff in the Caribbean.

  2. Ron is looking forward to casting Young Ian and Adult Fergus.

  3. The Outlander crew is looking for locations in Scotland that look like Jamaica and Hispaniola.

  4. Ron is considering taking some production to South Africa to possibly film ship from Black Sails. Saving Starz money since 1715.

  5. Sam and Cait will be "aged" and not recast because honestly, that would just be stupid at this point.

Um what? No. Does this seem like snipe-hunting to anyone else?

I laughed when I read that. Good luck is all I'm saying.

I have to wonder what they mean by that? Are they looking for docks? Are they looking for tropical like places... because I believe they could find a dock or a Seaport area but something tropical looking is very unlikely.

I'm most pleased to hear that they're finding this one easier to adapt, still wish we could get back up to 1 episodes though, but I'm just happy we're getting ses 3 and 4.

Really looking forward to casting news.

I think you meant 16 episodes and I really hope they up it too but I'm okay with anything they can give me. Plus, I do think they could do Voyager in 13 if they just don't dwell too much on some of the aspects which can move quickly from that part of the story. I won't go into detail but I just hope that we don't have an even split in timeline or location next season. Voyager is more a 2/3 split.

Yeah, I meant 16. Sometimes the 6 and 7 buttons don't work on my keyboard.
I'm absolutely okay with anything we get as well.
I'd actually be fine if they rushed the start of the book a bit. I kind of feel like that book is split into three parts.

It kind of is three parts or acts. Interesting. I wonder if they will consider that.
