Caitriona Balfe wins Scottish BAFTA Award
Yesterday, the Scottish BAFTA awards were held. Sam Heughan was nominated in the Best Actor TV Drama category, Caitriona Balfe in the Best Actress TV Drama category, and the show in Best TV Drama. Sadly, Sam and the show came up empty, but the lovely Caitriona won for best actress!

Her co-workers were pleased:

And here are a couple of clips of Sam and Cait on the red carpet before the show:

That's so great that she won!

It is. I don't know what the criteria is to be nominated -- I mean, she's not Scottish and plays an Englishwoman, but yes, I'm very pleased she won. Sam lost out to Douglas Henshaw, who has Outlander connections -- he portrayed MacQuarrie (the Black Watch leader who was hanged at Wentworth) in season 1. Gary Lewis (Colum MacKenzie) also won in some other category.

I'm guessing the production has to have some ties to Scotland, either by setting or funding.
