Season 3 prep
We have about 6 weeks to go until the premiere of season 3. Is anyone doing anything to prepare for that? Are you re-reading (or reading for the first time) Voyager? Re-watching seasons 1 and/or 2? Making lists of scenes you're looking forward to seeing dramatised? Wondering how they're going to handle that whole Laoghaire thing following the changes they made to that plotline in season 2? How are you coping with the last few weeks of Droughtlander?

To help with that, here's a really cute interview with Richard Rankin (that really goes off the rails by the end...):

I'm coping by not thinking about it much. The more I think about it the more hyped it get and then I start obsessing and want to drag people into the obsession I have... it gets bad.

But I have actually been paying more attention to Twitter and all the great tweets over there from Starz and the cast.

I watched this Richard interview which was just so silly. I really love him and apparently he prefers Richard so duly noted. I really love Jamie in the books but I'm starting to think Richard is my favorite because he is a big goofball.

I was considering listening to Voyager but I've been so wrapped up in my podcasts that I just haven't had the time so I think at some point I'm going to rewatch the second season or at least most of it. Maybe some episodes from the first season.

I haven't made any lists of scenes I want to see but there are a few I can think of. I'm curious about

[Spoiler (click to open)]Jamie's capture.
Jamie's escape from prison
Print shop scene
Ian being kidnapped.

So there is a list now. LOL

I'm actually dreading it a bit. I don't actually what September to come because then I have a birthday and I'm older... but I want it for Outlander. LOL

I have been toying with the idea of re-reading Voyager, but I'm finding now that the more I reread those books, the more I find things that annoy me, so maybe best to stop rereading them. There are a few things I am sort of "looking forward" too -- in the sense that I am very curious re: how they will be handled.

The first is Mr. Willoughby. That character made me a bit uncomfortable from time to time in the book, so I am very curious to see if they will sort of "PC" the character somewhat for the show. For a time I was almost hoping they wouldn't even bother with Mr. Willoughby, but as we know, they cast the actor so Willoughby will be there.

Another one is how they will handle the Geneva-Jamie thing. [Spoiler (click to open)]I wasn't bothered by the scene in the book itself, but I've run across a few things online by people essentially calling it a rape because Geneva says no or stop or something at one point and Jamie basically says no, he won't and continues on. So there too, I am wondering if they will change how that scene goes to make it more obviously consensual.

One thing I am looking forward to, and that will be a real surprise for non-book readers since they've really managed to keep this "secret", [Spoiler (click to open)]is the return of Geillis. The only "confirmation" I've found that Lotte Verbeek returns is when she tweeted a photo of Table Mountain, so she was definitely in South Africa for a week or so. But Starz, the cast and crew have all been great at not hinting that everyone's favourite witch will be back, so the TV show only people will be in for a nice surprise.

I don't get that but to each their own.

Oh I never liked the portrayal of Mr. Willoughby in the book whether he's supposed to be modeled after a real person or not. I want a more realistic version. I don't need PC. I want realistic because I doubt the majority of Chinese immigrants back in that age were like the book version.

I hate the conversation that usually follows the Geneva scene in the books but I do hope it is a little less like the books. [Spoiler (click to open)]It really should convey that Geneva is the one who is forcing Jamie because that was the point.

I'm so excited for the reveal [Spoiler (click to open)]of Geillis as Mistress Abernathy. I hope they don't reveal it in previews. I hope it is just a totally surprise.
