Important Outlander Announcement for Canadian Fans: Channel Change
Showcase Canada had the broadcast rights to seasons 1 and 2 of Outlander. Depending on your cable package, that meant that you might not have access to Showcase unless you upgraded your cable package. That was the case for me -- I don't get Showcase, so I torrented the show.

It is different for Season 3. The rights have been acquired by The W Network, and they will be airing the show the same day as it airs on Starz in the US, i.e. Sunday, September 10, but an hour later (at 9:00 rather than 8:00 for Starz). You will need to check to see if you get The W Network -- it might be more easily available than Showcase. It is certainly part of my basic Rogers package, which means I will be able to watch the show rather than torrent it...

There is one downside, however. The W Network (like Showcase) has ads, which really horrible disrupt the flow of some of those intensenly emotional scenes that Outlander is famous for. I once caught the Season 2 premiere episode on Showcase in a hotel room, and it was virtually unwatchable thanks to the ad breaks. All those brilliant, intense, emotional scenes between Claire and Frank? Yeah -- imagine those cut by ad breaks.

That's good news for Canada, but if that channel is going to air commercials, it means they will have to edit out part of the show to make the time for ads. NOT good!

No, they don't -- the show time slot is just longer. For example, they are currently showing season 2 and the time slot for the final episode is 2 hours -- and we all know that ep 213 was 90 minutes long. So they allot extra time for the ads. (But the fact that there are 30 minutes' worth of ads is depressing... I'll likely still just torrent the show.)

Stinks about the ads but I'm glad it is easier for you all to get.
